Z House
1992

The single-family residence overlooking Cayuga Lake in Ithaca, NY, exploits its spectacularly located sloped site to create a wide range of domestic environments. Starting with a simple rectangular foundation, which captures space for a studio set onto the slope, but open to lake views on the west, the house gradually projects structures and spaces toward the surrounding landscape. The house has evolved over twenty years in its relationships to its surroundings and to adapt to changing needs of its occupants.
