Electric River
1998. With M. Hadighi and
W. Tschapeller.
The competition entry for an exhibition space for architectural projects for the city of Berlin on Alexander Platz, refocuses the program onto a 600 feet long and 32 feet wide electronic text river, that becomes the site and central mediating element for debate about building in the city. The river is overlooked and fed by a cyber café. The project brings together the textual dimension of “Berlin Alexanderplatz”, the novel by Alfred Doblin, the cinematic qualities of the film adaptation by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, and the spatial aspects of the physical place in Berlin.
